
Mount Abu is known as the only hill station in the state of Rasjasthan. It is situated on the highest peak in the Aravalli Range. The climate of Mount Abu is very cool and its all hills covered by trees and flowering shrubs. Mount Abu is located in Sirohi district. Mount Abu is 58 km from Palanpur. The mountain forms a distinct rocky plateau 22 km long by 9 km wide. The highest peak is Guru Shikhar, at 5,650 ft above from sea level. GANGAUR : The day after Holi marks the beginning of the famous Gangaur festival, in the month of April. At this day people worship of Goddess Gauri and it is celebrated by girls and married women.
RAKSHA BANDHAN : Raksha Bandhan is celebrated in the month of August. On this day women and girls tie a rakhi on the wrists of their brothers and their brothers give her a promise to protect them.
DUSSEHRA : Dussehra is celebrated in Mount Abu in different ways they do Ashwa Puja and also worships their weapons. It celebrates victory of good over evil. On the tenth day of the festival Ravana and his brother Kumbhkarana and Meghnath, fire with crackers.
JANMASHTAMI : Peoples are believed to be the day when lord Krishna was born thousand of years ago. The Hindu take fast and keep awake till midnight hour for breaking fast after seeing moon.
BASANT PANCHAMI : It occurs in the spring season. During this festival women wear yellow dresses.
By Air : Nearest airports are Udaipur and Ahmedabad and by taxis or buses can be reached here.
By Road: Mount Abu is very well connected through road network bus services are available here. Regular buses connect Mount Abu with Ahmedabad, and Udaipur. Taxi and rickshaw services can be taken as a mode of local transport.
By Train:Mount Abu can be reached through train; the nearest railway station is at Abu Road, in the lowlands 27 km southeast of Mount Abu town. The station is on the Indian railways line between Delhi, Palanpur and Ahmedabad.
